Overview
The overall level of understanding in Hong Kong of LGBT individuals and the challenges they may face is low.  Many in Hong Kong view sexual orientation and gender identity as a sensitive issue and the subject is rarely openly discussed. The same applies to the workplace where the interests and needs of LGBT employees are largely ignored.  Many companies fail to understand the business case for creating an inclusive workplace for LGBT employees.
This study seeks to advance the dialogue on this important subject in Hong Kong. By examining both the attitudes towards and experiences of LGBT employees in Hong Kong, this two-part study provides a picture of the current context and challenges LGBT individuals face – both in the wider community and in the workplace – and highlights the challenges and opportunities that exist for companies in Hong Kong.To find out more about the Hong Kong LGBT Climate Study 2011-12, visit http://www.communitybusiness.org/lgbt/climatestudy.html
